The legal procedure aliens should follow when buying property from the TRNC

For aliens to acquire immovable property in TRNC and becoming “the owner” on the title deed of the immovable property, it is necessary that some documents (title deed, site plan taken from the authorized office etc), some forms consisting of personal details of the alien are submitted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and an application in person or via a lawyer is made to the same office. After the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the affirmative report from the Police Investigation and the permits taken from the Board of Ministers, it is allowed that the title deed of the immovable property is transferred to the name of the alien. Generally, all this official procedure is carried out by an Advocate registered with the TRNC Bar on a power of attorney given by the Alien. Due to the abundance of the number of immovable property purchased by aliens, the completion of this procedure and the transfer of the title deed to the name of the alien at the relevant District Land Office takes about a year.
